What happened was…
These pockets carried everything, almost everyday. Averaging 27,15 days in each of the first 20 Months. In the 2017’s the wear/repair ratio got pretty low, with multiple stress points tearing away with each step. The 331 days I clocked start & ending times I averaged 15,21 hrs of wear each day. I noted 603 days of wear between 12 March 2015 & 1 March 2017, total wear level is OVER 9000(hr!).
So where did all the Indigo go?
2 Soaks, 10 Washes, 24 Months. /Denim Noob/ washed this as I deemed most hygienic, to optimize fit and a little dash of White Wash to help the light blues I like. Initial soak, 2nd soak after 4 months, both with Dettol. 1 wash in 6th month continuing with 1 wash every two months. I kept adding Dettol in the washer until I lost 13kg after which I tried washing at 90 & 60 degrees to prevent pile-ups under my belt.
“imma break it down”
9 repairs, or at least 9 times I brought these to a tailor. Of the 127days I did not wear these, my guestimate is that around 50 days these were in the posession/hands of tailors. (an I missed them everyday.) In May I acquired a sewing machine, losing a blue-checkered towel in the progress I managed to ‘fix’ 15 blowouts personally. Counting all the stitching & patching and considering Jesper from tulp replaced & reinforced the entire coinpocket these jeans have been repaired in 57 places.
Is it the washing recipe or the lifestyle you guess?
What I have been up to is work hard & played hard 50/50 office life, freelancing vs. outside playing life, building stuff, skating and part-time bartending. During this contest I: Moved house 4 times, visited 8 countries, turned 30 in April, however still get ID by cashiers. All with all It’s been a fun run in moving times.
So what’s next? After receiving the DWC middleweight belt :-p the custom Tulp model me and Jesper brewed up will be nearing completion. A covert cargo design including hidden pockets & compartments and reinforced front, saddle & pockets trying to prevent the wear and tear this Tulp Emperor has endured. Together with an artist friend I designed a custom lining > sneak peek.. You should probably follow Tulp Jeans to stay in the loop
I’ll leave you with this…. *If I find the time maybe I’ll make a clean, well-cropped, color adjusted and subbed version but for now… evo-time!
(i’ll edit this video in later, to post this March 31st (in some time zone)
